How to Use the Site

The Wilsey Collection is presented online using the Omeka Classic content management system. This system allows us several ways to display items from the collection online.

You can browse the collection using two separate methods:

  • Date

Follow Wilsey's journey from the military bases in South Carolina, to his deployment to France, and finally the life-altering discovery of the Dachau Concentration Camp

  • Subject Keywords

Choose from a list of keywords in order to browse The Wilsey Collection's letters, photographs, and more by subject search.

Viewing Items

Both styles of browsing allow you to view the items of the collection in different ways.

Students, Educators, and Visitors

The most accessible way to view the collection is in our "Exhibit View," accessible by clicking the Date browsing option. This will display a timeline of Wilsey's letters and other items, organized together by month.

Letters are displayed alongside their transcriptions so that the content can easily be read and understood.

Scholars and Researchers

The most complete records for each item in The Wilsey Collection are also available online, under the Keyword browsing option.

This option allows scholars to select specific subject terms in order to fine-tune their research. The returned records can be displayed in full view, with Dublin Core metadata and high quality letter scans available for each item.

Note: Browsers may need to be refreshed in order to fully load display items
