[The following is a letter written to Wilsey from Alice and Andy, friends from home.]
July 31 – 45
Dearest Dave:-
Nothing much to write about
here, just thot I’d say hello and
goodbye. It’s been very warm
and no one is complaining
after our long cold winter.
Our garden is really growing
now wish you and Emily
were here to share it.
The Walters are moved but
not settled yet, the kids have
been in Bishop Calif. with her
mother for a month. John
Eachert is going down to L.A.
after Doris (she’s been there a
month) and Connie will go
that far and bring them back
with Doris and John, she’s
been feeling bum said she
may have to have an operation,
he was up Sunday and had
dinner with us.
Mrs Crumley is here and living
in the house, he comes up
[2]
every week end from Arizona
or some place down there,
pretty swell eh? to be able to
fly around in a big plane
at the governments expense.
Did you know the Cornishes
and Warrens were expecting?
Also Mrs (“Doc”) Smith guess I
told you, the Ray [nurse Dorthy Dysart Judge Dysart’s daughter][1] Youngs have
a fine boy, Erick Daniel, she
was quite sick had milk
fever and couldn’t nurse
the baby.
The Daleys live in New Jersey
or around there, Andy hears
from Jack quite often he’d
surely like to get back West again.
Evelyn and Boys are home
after a month in Oakland,
Chris seems to keep well they
are all busy now with the
fair.
Surely hope Dave you are getting
a little rest and things aren’t so
bad as they were—
Love and Kisses
Alice.
