c̅[1] 7th Army 30 Mar 45-Good-Friday
My dearest,
As anticipatorily mentioned last night in
my letter—it is emotionally (-religiously-philosophically)
interesting that I first step my foot onto Germany
on Good Friday [& (rep) lay my eyes on {The Rhine & Germany}[2] during
an brief interlude/trip to Strasbourg on Maundy Thursday].[3]
We will probably be moving very fast & very
often. I doubt if I’ll be able to write more than
a “one-pager” any night for some time, including
tonight.
The attached article is interesting to you North
Dakotans as its founder Lorenzo Bismarck seemed to have
the “Strong Verboten” ideas. Boy! oh boy! when this
article says every I agree every, & what more every
should be so benumbed c̅ novocaine benumbing
solution that it would take at least days to
arouse out of the benumbment.
Out here in tents the minute the sun
goes down [a’ course its rained s̅[4] [actual][5] sun for the last 4 days][6] it
gets so darn cold in these tents that its tedious
to write & everybody usually jumps into their
sleeping bag to get warm & stay warm—thus
dearest, I’m gonna jump right now.
I’ll write longer & better letters when I have
more of a chance—it seems all we spend our
time at, recently, is getting ready to pack & unpack;
getting ready to unpack & pack. All my love,
Dave
