Somewhere–Germany

31 Mar 45 c̅[1] 7th Army

Hi, darlin’,

Ho! ho! me—still I have 2 letters to you

in my helmet-liner & I write a 3rd (for the “helmet-P.O.-box”).

Anyhooo you’ll love it & someday they should arrive.

Things & everybody are moving so fast that nobody

can borrow trucks from anybody else—Thus I am

again sitting on the “back-end-half” of a split/leap-

frog move. AGAIN——I would have been over

the Rhine had trucks been available [my last “AGAIN” was

that I’d have been in Germany had trucks been available.][2] ←This is a rep.

Speaking of trucks—let this be a reminder

when I’m home, as to what the right & left cab

windows of one of our truck’s cab looks like.

Before I forget—Doctor (Capt) Hal Davis (Roanake, Va.)

has some clever snaps in his camera incorporating me.

Also the other M.D. anesthetist Doctor martin Jacobi

(Norwich, NY) has 2 different strips on movie film that

incorporate me.

By the evening of tomorrow (Easter) I should be

over the Rhine—thus (rep) I saw {The Rhine & Germany}[3] from

an interlude/trip to Strassbourg on Maundy Thursday; I

sat foot on Germany on Good Friday; & I’ll jump the

Rhine (a psycological satisfaction) on Easter Sunday. Thus Ill

surely never have a hard time remembering when I

saw-sat-jumped regarding Germany.

My hands are so cold Ill quit—“see” ya

Easter & see ya next (?) Easter, dearest.

All my love,

Dave

[1] Medical abbreviation meaning “with.”

[2] Bracketed text is part of original.

[3] In original, “The Rhine” is written above “& Germany.”
