Dearest,

No letter was written yesterday but that

is understandable. About all I can say of our

trip is that we had Pullman bed-rooms–– boy,

what style! Those troop sleeping cars for enlisted

men are ingenious –– someday I’ll describe

them, but for now I would say they are better,

wider & longer births than any Pullman.

We all sat tired as Hell at a cencorship

lecture late last night after arriving. The sum &

substance is that we can say: (#1) We are on the

East[er]n seacoast & (#2) We expect to go overseas

in the near future. (It surely seems funny to write unfreely).

Lordy! dear, Ive had to spend more money!

However, I am going to spend some more besides,

to send Kleenex inside an otherwise empty

foot locker for the baby’s diapering, regurgitating, etc..

Uncle Samie “gave” us second hand footlockers & it

is more durable than the one you saw me buy.

However we can always use shipping containers.

I understand the Amer. Express holds these lockers

for a couple of months so dont worry about its arrival.

I talked to Nurse Reynolds [who is really a Devens

anesthetist][1] in the PX[2] this AM –– she was a Devens

for a short time, & for a few nights fed Terry just before

he left for Mayos. She just raved about how sweet &

good he was. [She is in a different type of outfit][3].

Anyhooo, I ached to rave about –– All our love,

Dave
