Somewhere–Germany

Hi, darlin’,

There is a “gaposis” in my last nights writing—

however for 5 (or 6) nights (exclusive of last night) I wrote you

these one pager “deals.” I apologize, but circumstances &

time & happenings preclude anything but these “one-pagers.”

Believe it or not, candle-power, is a most “heckeling” &

limiting thing/factor against writing letters at all—

let alone decent letters. Anyhoooo, tomorrow night I

should have a super-stimulus for my pen—namely

21 sacks of mail (including pkgs) just flooded in &

its so huge that no one is permitted to “heckle-around”

as it is being sorted (which is logical & wise to make the

sorting efficient & as speedy as possible. But I just know

I have one or more letters from you in so huge a ship-

ment & I’ll have it (or them) tomorrow AM. Guess this 21

sacks is a rough index of how long [seemingly, at least][2] it

has been since we did have a mail delivery.

We got paid tonight (4 days late—also showing the

cha[o]tic a moving-rushed mess we have been in) & it was

in German marks. They are sorta “Invasion Money”-like

bills—I’ll send one; you’ve seen similar in “friendly”

France monetary-juggling, which perplexes us all.

However for your & my education, 10 Marks = $1.00 as the

most useable yard-stick & we figure therefrom.

Time, paper, & boresomeness to you rules out a

lengthy chat re: personality trouble in our Anesth. Dept

which doesnt really involve me except in sort of a

supervisory way—but oh me! the world is “small” &

humanism is humanism. Why cant outsiders let other

people alone; let people live their own lives; & live & let live,

sez I on behalf of 2 other people.

Anyhoooo, I better sleep for health’s sake.

All my love,

Dave
